Layne Burgess

Senior HR Business Partner

With over 15 years of HR experience, Layne is a senior HR Business Partner who has been with us from the very beginning. She oversees our HR Helpdesk and Recruitment activities across all client portfolios.

She has significant experience in Employee & Industrial relations as well as Change Management across both New Zealand and Australia. Layne has successfully implemented numerous operational efficiencies projects, such as major restructures and positive culture change and employee engagement projects.

Outside of work, Layne enjoys escaping the city, particularly to head north to the Bay of Islands, as well as spending time with her family.

James Wall-Manning

Senior HR Business Partner

James joined Core HR in 2020 and holds over 10 years of experience across both management and HR roles. He specialises in all things people - building capability, supporting and addressing issues, and developing frameworks to enable high performance.

James’ background in leading teams, has influenced his passion for supporting leaders in difficult conversations. Throughout the years, he has also developed extensive experience in employment relations and performance management.

James enjoys tapping into his very sociable side when not on the job. He loves travelling whenever possible as well as spending time with friends and family.

Rebecca Gargiulo

HR Advisor/ Payroll Consultant

Rebecca has 5 years of experience in both HR and payroll and has been with us for the duration of that journey. She takes care of payroll for small to medium businesses, our HR Helpdesk, as well as project work including employment contracts.

Rebecca comes from a community services background which helped her develop a strong ‘people’ focus that she carries with her in her role. She is especially passionate about helping others and building strong and positive relationships with clients.

Off the clock, Rebecca loves walking, going to the gym and spending time with her family. She also enjoys op shopping.

HR Advisor/ Payroll Consultant

Rebecca has been with us at Core HR for the past 4 years and is an integral part of the team, taking care of several tasks spanning from helpdesk processes to payroll management for multiple clients.

With over 15 years of experience in operations and management roles in the economic sector, Rebecca is very skilled in all things financial and finds herself most interested in payroll and legislation when it comes to HR.

In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys any activity involving spending time with her children, as well as coaching and watching netball.

 

Keren Norling

Recruitment Partner

Keren has been with us for almost three years and has 20 years of recruitment under her belt. She takes care of recruitment across all levels, from attraction and selection strategies to recruitment training.

She has a deep love for recruitment, particularly for the way it enables her to help people. Keren is especially interested in understanding the needs of departments, teams and businesses and helping them find people that complement these requirements.

On her off days, she loves supporting her young boys across their various sports, playing netball and exploring New Zealand whenever she gets the chance.

Tricia Hughes

Recruitment Consultant

Tricia has over 3 years of HR management and recruitment experience and has been part of our team for almost a year. At Core HR, she handles recruitment duties for our clients and oversees the recruitment process from start to finish.

Having worked her way up from sales assistant to regional manager in the past, Tricia has a keen understanding of the retail landscape and a passion for placing candidates in the right situations and positions.

On her off days, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son. She is a self-described foodie and loves spending time outdoors, preferably at the beach.

Sam Allan

HR/Recruitment Assistant

Sam looks after our helpdesk inbox, handling all sorts of HR-related enquiries, as well as taking care of end-to-end recruitment.

With a background in early childhood education, Sam has always had a passion for people and found her calling with a career in HR. In her varied role, she has a particular interest in phone screening and interacting with potential candidates.

Outside of work, Sam loves being outside in nature and tries to go out for a bush walk whenever possible. She also enjoys time with friends, family and her kitten Louie.

Sara Steele

HR/Recruitment Assistant

Sara has been with us for the past two years and has accumulated plenty of HR and recruitment experience over that time. She takes care of recruitment for our clients as well as helpdesk duties.

A passionate HR professional, Sara enjoys the variety of challenges the industry offers. She has a particular interest in learning and understanding employment law, ensuring client work is always up to legal standards.

In her spare time, Sara is big on exploring new places and indulging in new experiences. She also loves to spend time with her family and friends.

 

Debbie evans

Finance / Office Assistant

Debbie holds a breadth of experience across Marketing and Administration Support positions focussing on building positive client experiences.

She brings a passion for people and travel and in her most recent role she coordinated international homestays for school students.

Debbie is a huge foodie and outside of work, she loves spending her time exploring the world with her boys!
